We develop biodiversity strategies for municipalities, project developers, housing associations, universities, cooperatives, and real estate companies. The goal is to strategically integrate the promotion of biodiversity and the presence of target species across different scales into urban development, urban planning projects, and the design of residential neighbourhoods, educational institutions, business sites, and real estate portfolios. For companies, these strategies can define concrete biodiversity goals and indicators as part of corporate sustainability reporting.

For urban development projects involving expansion, renovation, or densification, we design steering and action plans to promote biodiversity. We specifically integrate the needs of target species into the development of urban quarters. Concrete catalogues of measures, along with implementation and maintenance concepts, provide a framework for sustainable and biodiversity-promoting urban development.

Engaging citizens in the development of biodiversity concepts is essential for fostering a positive human–nature relationship and enabling successful cohabitation in urban spaces. We design participatory processes that facilitate the joint development of conservation goals, the selection of target species, and the design of appropriate measures. As DGNB Biodiversity Managers, we provide guidance on the design of biodiversity-enhancing outdoor spaces and accompany the entire process – from concept to certification. Additionally, we assist in integrating biodiversity aspects into corporate sustainability reporting, making ecological responsibility both visible and measurable.

Sustainable green and open spaces require long-term strategies for maintenance and management. We develop practical concepts that preserve and actively promote biodiversity – through transitioning to nature-based, process-oriented, and site-specific maintenance practices. This sustainable care approach enhances climate resilience and creates new habitats for flora and fauna. Ecological networks are strengthened, while usability and quality of stay for people are maintained. Our concepts take into account dynamic development processes and multifunctional requirements to ensure long-term effectiveness of the designed spaces.

We produce detailed, visually engaging species profiles and biological data analyses to support biodiversity-oriented planning. This information helps to design targeted measures for promoting specific species and improving the ecological value of a site.

We offer trainings and professional lectures on biodiversity, nature-based solutions, and the Animal-Aided Design method – tailored to applications in landscape architecture, urban planning, and architecture. We communicate our knowledge in a practice-oriented way to professionals, companies, and public institutions – with a focus on conveying methods that enhance both ecological and social qualities.

We develop mediation formats that make human–nature relations, biodiversity, and human–animal cohabitation tangible and accessible. In exhibitions and public contexts, we combine scientific content with design and artistic approaches to open up new perspectives on coexisting with non-human life in urban environments.
